Roger Waters Details ‘The Wall’ World Tour Plans

Roger Waters hopes to put a global spin on Pink Floyd‘s "The Wall" when he tours to celebrate the multi-platinum conceptual work’s 30th anniversary beginning this fall in North America.

"I started to think that maybe there is something in the story of ‘The Wall,’ which is about this one guy…that could be seen as an allegory for the way nations behave towards one another, or religions behave towards one another," Waters, who last toured to play "The Dark Side of the Moon" in 2007-08, tells "In other words, could the piece be developed to describe a broader, more universal condition than we did in 1980 and I did in 1990 in Berlin?

"So I started to think about it more and more, and I suddenly had a few more ideas and I thought, ‘Maybe if we did this with this song and that with that song, we could achieve that.’ And so I started jotting a few things down on paper, and eventually I said, ‘Y’know what? I’m gonna do this…’ "

Waters and his band begin "The Wall" tour on Sept. 15 in Toronto. The show, which has only been performed 31 times before, will play 36 dates in North America — including two-night stands in Chicago, Philadelphia and Los Angeles

Platinum-selling comedian Jeff Dunham to tour SA in September!

Jeff Dunham, best known for his ventriloquist character `Achmed the Dead Terrorist` has won over millions of fans with characters that are politically incorrect, insulting, and downright hilarious. Witness why Jeff Dunham is the top-grossing stand up act in North America, when he tours South Africa in September.

Saturday 18th September – Sun City Superbowl

Thursday 23rd September – CarnivalCity, Johannesburg

Friday 24th September – Grand West Casino, Cape Town

Jeff Dunham is known around the world for the YouTube-hit “Achmed the dead terrorist” (over 200 million views on YouTube)

Jeff Dunham is one of the funniest partners in show business. He has amassed legions of loyal fans throughout the United States and abroad with thousands of sold-out theater and comedy club performances, countless television guest spots – including numerous Tonight Show appearances with both Leno and Carson– and with two top-rated specials on Comedy Central.

He continues to win great accolades and success for one simple reason: He and his buddies are funny as hell. Oh, and by the way… Jeff Dunham is a ventriloquist.

Dunham’s comedic skill, impeccable technique, and sleight of hand make him a master of his craft. In fact, audiences often forget there is a person behind the puppets. “What makes this performer the best at what he does is the believability factor,” one reviewer wrote. “Dunham’s characters have more personality than a lot of people I know.” Dunham was also voted “Funniest Male Stand-Up Comic”’ at the American Comedy Awards, an honour shared with the likes of Jerry Seinfeld, Jeff Foxworthy, and Robin Williams.

Sony Music is the official supplier in South Africa of Jeff’s two recently released platinum-selling DVDs: “Spark of Insanity” and “Very Special Christmas Special”. And as an added bonus, Sony Music has also released a Limited Edition Boxset that contains both DVDs. This boxset will only be available while stocks last!

The next two games will define the remainder of the season for Tottenham

The next two games will define the remainder of the season for my Tottenham side.

First up on Sunday will be a Portsmouth team that have risen above their poor League form to prove themselves a revelation in the FA Cup.

After that, Arsenal are up next at White Hart Lane on Wednesday.

Portsmouth, in particular, will be tough. A lot of our players will have mixed feelings about playing them again because of the divided loyalties and the situation the club is in.

I have to say that I, too, wouldn’t be human if I didn’t still have feelings for Pompey.

I was sold by them because of the perilous financial situation that the club was in. I had no choice in the matter.

Yet you wouldn’t believe the number of abusive phone calls and messages I got from Portsmouth fans angry at the way they thought I was treating them. Some of them very, very nasty indeed.

I was shocked. I couldn’t believe it – not only because of the things that they were saying but also the fact they had animosity towards me over a situation that wasn’t of my making.

The truth was that my departure from FrattonPark wasn’t up to me. Pompey had to cash in on me.

Subsequent events have borne that out, with virtually the whole of the team that lifted the FA Cup two years ago now at other clubs.

The chairman at the time, Peter Storrie, has since admitted that. But that didn’t stop people getting hold of my mobile phone number and bombarding me with angry calls.

They just didn’t – or wouldn’t – understand and I had to change my number quite a few times because they just wouldn’t let up.

I’d like to think that was the feeling of only a minority of their supporters but the number who felt that way appeared to be more than that and it’s a shame. Surely they will have seen the way Pompey sold off anything they could get a good price for and realised what was going on.

In the short time I was there I’d like to think I did a good job for them and, to be fair, while I was at the club they treated me really well.

I remember scoring on my debut against Chelsea and then achieving the record of becoming the first Portsmouth player to score in his first five home games.

They were great times. Every weekend the ground was packed, FrattonPark was such a difficult place to go and we were pulling off great results.

I just hope our relationship can improve because all of the players that left did so in order to help the club. So to get abuse of the kind that I had to take was not nice.

People think footballers don’t care about the way that they are perceived, but they do – just like anyone else.

I hope Pompey do come back up to the Premier League because they are a good club with great support.

As people can see, the players there are still fighting for the cause even though the points deduction means they have no chance of staying up.

It is that hunger and determination which will hopefully see them bounce back from the Championship at the first time of asking.

I’ll say now that if I score on Sunday I will celebrate.

Not because I want to have a pop at my old club but more because I want to write my name into Tottenham history.

I love the club and everything about it. Tottenham Hotspur has a great Cup tradition and I want to be part of it, up alongside some of the great names including Jimmy Greaves, Gazza, Gary Lineker and Gary Mabbutt.

Not only that, I have had such bad luck in cup competitions over the last two years. Last year when Spurs got to the Carling Cup final I broke my foot and couldn’t play. I scored in the semi-final but then did my metatarsal which ruled me out.

And two years ago I was cup-tied as Pompey made it all the way to Wembley and lifted the FA Cup. Even in the last round this year, after champing at the bit to play, I got a hamstring injury.

So if I am given a chance on Sunday, you can be sure that I am going to grab it with both hands.
