DHL Western Province victory parade In Cape Town on Tuesday, October 30, 2012.

The Absa Currie Cup-winning DHL Western Province squad will embark on a victory parade through three parts of Cape Town on Tuesday, October 30, 2012.
Both players and management will be joined by Western Cape Premier Helen Zille and Cape Town City Mayor Patricia de Lille to celebrate their dramatic 25-18 win over the Sharks in Saturday’s Currie Cup Final.
Three busses, made up of all the players who featured in the 2012 Currie Cup season, team management, VIPs and the media will begin a parade at Cape Town City Hill, before going on to Elsiesriver and Khayelitsha to meet more fans.

The Mayor will arrive at City Hall at 12.45pm and will be met by the team, coaches and the trophy on the balcony facing the parade and will address the crowd.
The busses will then make their way through Adderley Street, Wale Street, Long Street, Buitengracht Street, Loop Street and Strand Street. The busses will then head to Elsiesriver (the parking on the corner of the Elsiesriver Civic Centre and Shawco) and Khayelitsha (to Site B Centre) to complete the victory parade.

Club Newlands – in conjunction with DHL and adidas – have organised three rugby gatherings for Saturday’s Absa Currie Cup Final, meaning you can support DHL WP whether you are in Durban, Cape Town or Johannesburg.

For those of you in Durban – whether you are going to the match or not – you will get to meet Jean de Villiers and the DHL Dancers at Rovers Rugby Club before the match at Kings Park, so make sure you get down to the stadium and show your support.

As an added bonus, those guests that get down to Rovers early on, will get a free beer and boerewors roll upon arrival, with the big screen broadcasting the two DHL WP Junior finals – as the Under-19s and U21s face the Baby Bulls in curtain-raisers.

But if you are not in Durban, Club Newlands will also be hosting public viewing areas at the Club Newlands Lounge (in Cape Town) and at Montecasino’s Piazza (Johannesburg), with the games broadcast live on TV at both venues and plenty of food and refreshments on offer, not to mention some awesome competitions too.

The Sharks will be looking to win the Absa Currie Cup for the third time in five seasons on Saturday when they host DHL Western Province at Mr Price Kings Park in Durban (kick-off 17h00).

WP, meanwhile, will look to end an 11-year title drought, having last won the iconic trophy in 2001 at DHL Newlands – ironically also against The Sharks.

A look at the list of winners this millennium will reveal that The Sharks and WP have contested three finals, with the Cape side winning in 2000 (25-15 in Durban) and 2001 (29-24 in Cape Town).

The Sharks’ solitary win came in 2010 at Mr Price Kings Park when 25 points from Pat Lambie helped the Durbanites to a 30-10 victory over Allister Coetzee’s men.

Saturday’s final will be the seventh The Sharks have been involved in since 2000, with two wins (in 2010 over WP and 2008 over the Vodacom Blue Bulls, both at home). Apart from the losses in 2000 and 2001 to WP, they also lost the 2003 final to the Blue Bulls and 2011 final to the MTN Golden Lions.

Saturday’s final will be WP’s fourth since 2000, with all three previous meetings having been against The Sharks
